eldudowski dang it this is bloody awesome. what was I doing not listening to this band for so long? fuzzy gungy lo-fi indie rock heroics shot thru with more pop nous than the next dozen pretenders with precious hair and no fkn clue. ❤️

deadshotkeen Cracking stuff. Some hints of their peers (Pavement, The Fall and Guided By Voices most notably) but with more of a US garage filter than any of those, which perhaps explains why they didn’t garner as much attention back then. More The Seeds than the then de rigueur Wire. Great lyrics and themes without ever coming across as arch or preachy. Clearly underrated. Hopefully this goes some way towards getting them the reappraisal they richly deserve. Favorite track: How To Succeed In Failure.

Bishbashbosh An excellent retrospective collection of songs from one of Bristol's finest! Favorite track: New Jam Shoes.

  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

This double CD is a professionally Duplicated copy, not a Glass Master. It is becoming too expensive for small labels to do Vinyl & Glass Mastered CD's. This is just as good as a Glass Mastered disc. Just need to be looked after a bit better. Comes in a card gatefold sleeve and with an A5 Fanzine / Booklet (while stocks last!). These were produced mainly as promotion, but we decided to make the last handful available to anyone who wants one.

about

A Co-Release with Old Bad Habits Label in Greece.

If you live nearer to Greece than the UK, and Americans especially, and you want the vinyl version of this LP, we suggest you order from them to save on the postage costs.

But you are obviously welcome to order from us, and as always, if you tell us to ship SURFACE MAIL we will, and then we refund any over-postage (because we're nice.)

Beatnik Filmstars.
A Lo-Fi, Garage, Indie-Rock band from Bristol that lasted most of the 90's and again a few years later...The best way to describe them is Eclectic! Nothing was ever out of bounds. From pure out and out hooky Indie-pop tunes, to weird oddities and crazed noise blasts!

John Peel was a huge supporter. (5 Sessions!!)

Here they have collected 45 of their favourite songs, and what a mighty fine collection it is too! Imagine if you will a sort of 'White Album' for a band who had no money and had to record as and when & where and how they could, and as cheaply as possible!

We think you'll be impressed!

In their time they played shows around the world, supported all your favourite big indie names (The Fall, Flaming Lips, Superchunk, Archers Of Loaf, Wedding Present, Slowdive, Guided By Voices, Blur, Lush, The Rod Jane & Freddie Experience etc...) and it was suggested by one magazine they might have been the influence for Blur leaving their 'Country House' and Woo Hoo-ing their way back to the top of the charts with a harder sound... Pavement got the credit, but those who knew, knew.
We're saying nothing.
