This album is a collection of songs from various bands or projects,
that have all included Arthur Andrew Jarrett, who first came to 'indie
infamy' when Garagey-indie-pop group; The Groove Farm released
their first DIY record in 1986.

Propelling them to Fanzine popularity throughout the 86 DIY pop explosion.
Annoying 'serious' journalists who took the band's 'amature DIY' approach and failure to take anything 'serious' as 'lack of ambition' which was to totally miss the whole point of the groups existence.

When the 'indie/pop' tag, the band had been labeled with, started to get
a bit boring, they disappeared and re-emerged as Beatnik Filmstars.
A band determined to change and experiment as and when the mood
took hold, and with several line-up changes along the way.

They ended up on MERGE records in the USA as well as releasing
records on Slumberland, La-Di-Da and their own Mobstar label (Mobstar was basically Raving Pop Blast! using a new name to distance themselves from the past).
They also recorded 5 sessions for John Peel.

Kyoko (a quiet-core-slo-fi project) followed, although failed to gain any headway, sales wise, (despite the 'serious journalists' critical acclaim!)

Other Jarrett experiments would follow (Our Arthur, The Bluebear) when
he could be bothered. By his own admission: "I enjoy being lazy if i can"

Airbomb Repeater! was just a bunch of friends messing about in between
Beatnik Filmstars activity, and (The) Nervous Rex was a make shift band who played live only the once (it was a bad/funny/terrifying experience never needed to be repeated!) to let Jarrett live out his 60's fantasies.
He claimed the albums were not him, but in fact his Dad's old recordings
from 1968 on which he added some new parts - who knows the truth?
(I think we all do!)

Bringing us bang up to date with his current Garage-Psych-Rock band
The Total Rejection.

This collection of songs chosen by Arthur himself, includes a track by The Overloads, (One of several school-days bands) recorded in a caravan in Devon in 1979 (or possibly 1980) pre-dating The Groove Farm by several years.

The collection is a mixed selection and occasionally drifts off into the odd 'experiment' ('Inside my head' for example) or the 'Slo-Fi/Sample led sound of Kyoko's 'Melt'.

But it's Jarrett's first love of simple garage pop music, that tends to
shine through most of the bands/songs.

I think it's a rather good collection and look forward to Volume 2.
